Making A Difference: Mary Lou Elliott

This is the most selfless, dedicated and awe inspiring individual I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Having practiced in the mental health field for years, I have never seen such inner strength, and as a consumer, such dedication to her “customer service” position.  She takes it to a level I have never seen in retail! With all the chose’s we have in this area, she is the reason so many of us choose to shop at that store. As you can see, accolades and compliments embarrass and baffle her, she just doesn’t get it! I just had to ask her where she gets such strength and dedication. Her reply, simple, “from the other side of this counter”!  I often think, if I could somehow tap into this women’s brain, it would be a better world, but then, I would have to find a different profession. Being the caregiver of an elder parent alone takes a tremendous toll mentally and physically.  We could all see the physical devastation of her chemo treatments from week to week, but she was always there with a smile and a truly sincere, “Hello, how are you” and always makes you feel as if she is there just for you.
