Jon Paepcke joined the NBC 13 in November 2002. He likes to use his constant curiosity for the truth and investigative background to reveal the hidden stories area viewers want to see.
Since arriving in the Magic City, Jon has uncovered numerous stories of consumer fraud and government corruption. Most notably, he revealed an on duty Homewood police officer at a topless club out of jurisdiction and showed an Anniston contractor using questionable business practices on a Circuit Judge's home. One of Jon's stories even changed state law. After an undercover investigation showed people taking donations dropped off at area charities after hours, a local lawmaker introduced a bill making such activity a crime.
Jon hails from riverside city of Columbus, Georgia. He graduated in 1997 with a Broadcast News degree from the University of Georgia Journalism School. He was fortunate to secure a reporting job at the CBS affiliate in his hometown, where he worked for five and a half years in every capacity.
Jon was raised a Crimson Tide fan, and despite his academic credentials he roots for Bama no matter who they play, including the Georgia Bulldogs.
Jon enjoys tweaking his evolving home theater, snow skiing, and spending time with his bride Jennifer and energetic border collie named Morgan. He looks forward to continuing making a difference in the viewers' lives.
