Jennifer Hale is the award winning weekend anchor at WVTM – NBC 13. Jennifer has won an Emmy and an Edward R. Murrow award for her coverage of the 2006 Alabama church arsons. She's also won numerous awards from the Associated Press and the National Federation of Press Women for her coverage of Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, the Louisiana Legislature, LSU's 2003 National Championship and the hunt and legal trial of convicted Louisiana serial killer Derrick Todd Lee.
Jennifer was born in New Orleans, La., and raised in Semmes, Ala. She returned to Louisiana to attend LSU's Honors College, where she majored in Political Science and was a member of Delta Zeta, Golden Key Honor Society, a captain of the LSU Cheerleading Squad, Miss LSU and LSU Homecoming Queen. Jennifer earned her master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. She also attended The Fund for American Studies' Institute on Political Journalism at Georgetown University and completed a certificate on Irish Culture and Politics at University College Dublin in Ireland.
Before joining the NBC 13 family, Jennifer worked at WAFB in Baton Rouge, La., and KNOE in Monroe, La.
In her free time, Jennifer enjoys traveling, freelance writing, photography, cooking and college football. Jen is an avid runner who also spends time playing tennis, bike riding and training for triathlons, plus skiing or surfing when vacations allow. Jen cooks for the Ronald McDonald House and is involved with various fund raisers and events benefiting Alzheimer's research and the Speech and Hearing Impaired.
