Lawrence one of 10 players not returning for Tide
Alonzo Lawrence, a Parade All-American in high school and one of Alabama’s prized signees in 2008, is no longer a member of the Crimson Tide.
The 6-foot, 204-pound Lawrence was expected to do big things in Tuscaloosa before his career was over, but he was redshirted as a true freshman last season and a violation of team rules during the offseason led to his leaving the program.

SEC Media Days: Saban addresses recent player defections
Almost as newsworthy lately as the players committing to play for Alabama are the players choosing not to return to Alabama.
Linebacker Prince Hall won’t be back. Neither will Chris Jackson. Rumors of other defections also are beginning to crop up. Alabama head coach Nick Saban addressed the departures at SEC Media Days Thursday.

SEC Media Days ‘09 starts today with lightweights
The 2009 college football season is finally here.
At least the parade of cliches regarding SEC football in the form of SEC Media Days.
The three-day event kicks off this afternoon at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover. Each SEC school will be represented by its head coach and two accompanying players and they will all take turns addressing the print, television and radio mediums.

Bert Bank, founder of Alabama Football Network, dies
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Bert Bank, a World War II veteran who became a state legislator and founded the Alabama Football Network, has died.
