Jacksonville State tops Norfolk State

    NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Nick Murphy scored 18 points off the bench
and Geddes Robinson added 17 as Jacksonville State defeated Norfolk
State 80-61 Tuesday night.
    The Gamecocks (5-1) shot 78.3 percent from the field (18 of 23)
in the second half, finishing at 58.5 percent (31 of 53).
    Leading 35-29 at halftime, Jacksonville State built a 44-31 lead
with 15:46 left. The Spartans (1-4) cut the lead to four on Brandon
Monroe’s dunk with 8:36 left, but the Gamecocks scored the next six
points to pull away.
    Michael Deloach scored a game-high 25 points for the Spartans,
who have lost four straight.
    Brandon Crawford added 13 points for the Gamecocks.
    Neither team led by more than six points in a first half as they
combined for 27 fouls. Norfolk State led 24-20 with 6:57 left in
the opening half, but the Gamecocks went on an 8-0 run to take the
lead for good.
