It’s getting tighter at the U.S. Open

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Lucas Glover is winning the battle of attrition, but just barely, leading the U.S. Open by one shot at the turn in the final round.

Glover was 3-over on the front nine, but still managed to pulled out of an overnight tie for the lead.

That’s because playing partner Ricky Barnes continued his freefall with four straight bogeys starting on the fifth hole. That gives him 10 bogeys in the last 20 holes and drops him to second place. Barnes was 5-over on the front side.

The leaders’ problems are letting others in the field back in the hunt.

Ross Fisher is just two shots off the lead, while Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are just three shots back. Mickelson is 1-under through 10 holes.

Woods is making a late push with consecutive birdies on 13 and 14 to also get to 1-under.
