Auburn tries to just “do what we do”

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn has adopted a no-frills team motto for the season.

Coach Gene Chizik’s slogan for the team is “Do what we do.“ He says he wants the Tigers to repeatedly practice the things they do and become a product of their habits. So if things aren’t going well in a game, they focus on executing better rather than making drastic changes.

It seems to be working so far, especially for the offense. The Tigers rank in the top five nationally in total yards, scoring and rushing offense under offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

“Do what we do” also seems to have carried over off the field.

There are 14 one-loss teams ranked in the Top 25, while Auburn is 4-0, but neither Chizik nor Auburn players have been grumbling about it.
