TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team practiced for two hours in shells in the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility Monday afternoon as game week preparations begin for Saturday’s season opener with Virginia Tech.

“We are playing a very, very good team, “Alabama head coach Nick Saban said at this Monday press conference.

“Virginia Tech is an outstanding football team.  They have been an outstanding team, they know how to win.  Frank Beamer has done a fantastic job.  He has been there for a lot of years.  He is one of the winningest active coaches in college football. Offensively, they have a lot of starters back and a lot of good skill players.”

No. 5 Alabama will meet No. 7 Virginia Tech in the 2009 Chick-Fil-A College Kickoff Classic at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.  The game will be nationally televised by ABC Sports with kick off just after 7 p.m. (CST).
