TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama and San Jose State will meet on the football field for the first time in the 2010 season opener.

The teams will play on Sept. 4 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It will be the first game after the stadium’s two-year renovation project to the south end zone, which is expected to push the capacity over 100,000.

It will be the Crimson Tide’s first game against a team from California since playing UCLA in the 2000 and 2001 seasons.

It was previously announced that Alabama will host Penn State the following week.

The San Jose State game completes the Tide’s nonconference schedule for 2010. Other nonconference foes, along with Penn State, are Duke and Georgia State.
