Bama QB McElroy shakes off subpar outings
Published: October 20, 2009
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - No. 1 Alabama’s quarterback, Greg McElroy, doesn’t have much time to fret over his recent misfires.
McElroy said you have to put rough games behind you since you play another one just about every fall Saturday. He was intercepted twice early against South Carolina and has only passed for 239
yards in the past two games after being one of the Southeastern Conference’s most efficient passers through the first five.
It hasn’t cost the Crimson Tide. But as a self-described perfectionist, McElroy is trying to get his touch back.
The Tide faces rival Tennessee on Saturday.
McElroy gets plenty of help from the supporting cast. Tailback Mark Ingram is the Southeastern Conference’s leading rusher and heads a loaded backfield, and the defense hasn’t allowed a touchdown in the two games when McElroy struggled.
