AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Darvin Adams has become Auburn’s go-to receiver.

The sophomore is easily leading the Tigers in receiving going into Saturday’s game with Ball State. He became the first Auburn receiver to get three touchdown catches in a game in 20 years last weekend against West Virginia.

Adams only had three catches last season, all against Tennessee-Martin. He was overshadowed in the offseason by much talked about freshmen Emory Blake and DeAngelo Benton, not to mention Montez Billings’ academic issues or Tim Hawthorne’s broken foot.

Adams’ 261 yards is already closing in on last year’s leader Rod Smith, who had 332 receiving yards.

He has had four, five and six catches in Auburn’s games.
