Weekend weather
Today will be a very warm and muggy afternoon with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and scattered showers and thunderstorms developing mainly during the mid-late afternoon hours. If you are headed to high school football games tonight, I would keep the rain gear handy.
A front approaches the area on Saturday with rain and thunderstorms expected. A few showers are possible first thing tomorrow morning but they will become more widespread by late morning and afternoon. Heavy downpours and gusty winds are possible with some of these thunderstorms. Rain and storms are likely during the Alabama game tomorrow, so be prepared!! I’m also forecasting scattered showers and the chance of a thunderstorm for the Auburn game Saturday evening. One to two inches of rain is possible by Saturday night so a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for North Alabama, however flash flooding could occur elsewhere too.
Drier air moves in for Sunday and while the humidity will lower a bit, temperatures will still be warm. A true cold front comes through on Monday with some clouds and perhaps a passing shower and will usher in our first real taste of fall; morning lows in the 50s both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
