Stormy Night In Coastal North Carolina
Its another clear chilly night in progress across central Alabama, and temperatures will again head into the 50’s, and even lower. Satellite pictures do show the outer edge of clouds associated with the North Carolina coastal low spreading westward into extreme eastern counties of the state. Those clouds may serve to keep places like Fort Payne and Heflin just slightly warmer than Wednesday night. And those clouds will continue spreading westward, and that means the sky will look somewhat different Friday, at least over the eastern two-thirds of the viewing area. High clouds will give the sky a bit of a milky-white appearance, with the sun still visible. By later Friday afternoon, the clouds may thicken up enough to just about block the sun over eastern areas, while it still remains fairly sunny in and around Tuscaloosa. The clouds will last into Saturday, then will generally depart for the 2nd half of the weekend.
The rain with the coastal storm will stay east of us, and really, on-balance, it will still be a rather pleasant weekend with very comfortable air in place.
As for our latest tropical storm, known as Kyle, it poses no threat to us as it will stay over the open waters of the Atlantic. It may come close enough to New England to enhance the wind there, and once again Nova Scotia will get a period of heavy rain and strong winds from Kyle.
