Storms restricted to southwestern areas so far.

Northern Greene and Hale counties have taken it on the meteorological chin so far this afternoon with a real pounding provided by rather persistent and very heavy thunderstorms.  An area flood advisory has been issued for Greene and Sumter counties until 6:30 pm.  West Greene has seen the bulk of the extremely heavy rainfall.
Over the rest of the area, things are currently quiet.  I do expect a few isolated storms to develop the rest of the afternoon and evening, though the coverage will probably not be broad.
There are two areas to our west that bear watching.  First is a pre-frontal trough that will arrive during the early morning hours.  It is currently spawning thunderstorms along the Mississippi River.  These could move into western counties after midnight, though they may be on a weakening trend by then.
The actual front arrives tomorrow afternoon and that will mean some scattered thunderstorms, and a few of these will likely be strong to severe, and so a few warnings appear likely at that time.
Some drying at the surface on Friday will mean lower rain chances, then I am still forecasting dry weather for the weekend.
