Rain headed our way from Louisiana and Mississippi.

In the field of weather forecasting, we can not always be super confident.  But in this pattern, we can be confident that this is going to be a wet week.  It begins overnight with rain arriving from the west, and some of the rain will become heavy.  I expect slow-going for the morning rush hour with rain falling heavily in parts of central Alabama, and with ponding of water on some area roadways.  The rain may become a bit more intermittent later in the morning with some showers will persist all day. Rainfall totals could easily reach 2 to 4 inches, mainly along the highway 278 corridor. There is a slight chance a few holes in the clouds may form, and if that should happen, it could warm enough for a few thunderstorms to form as well.
A few leftover showers may continue Monday night, then I think we will get a break on Tuesday with only very limited showers.  Another feature will give us some showers on Wednesday, though that system does not appear to be as robust as the one that comes Monday.
On Thursday though a strong cold front will move in, and that will mean more showers and thunderstorms, and some of those storms could not only be heavy, but also severe.
Cooler and drier weather follows Friday and Saturday.
