Quieter pattern is starting to develop.

Rain chances are decidedly lower today as a high pressure ridge in the upper atmosphere builds in across the area.  Its the kind of system that promotes generally sinking air and that tends to suppress shower and thunderstorm development.  Once again today we are watching another complex of powerful thunderstorms to our north, and there is still some chance that area could build southeastward the next few hours and perhaps clip the northeastern counties of the state.  So the chance of rain this evening is certainly not zero in places like Fort Payne, Gadsden and Centre, where a thunderstorm could briefly visit.  But there certainly won’t be anything nearly as widespread as we have seen the past 4 days.
Basically rainfree weather is on tap for tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, and with the lack of rain will come more sunshine and with the sunshine will come plenty of heat.  Highs will average out in the 93 to 98 degree range and that combined with high humidity will lead to heat index values approaching 105.
Slightly better shower chances will come in this weekend.
