Quiet weather to continue the rest of this week.

El Nino patterns are usually characterized by an active southern jet stream during the autumn months, and when that jet is cranked up, we normally have active weather here in central Alabama. This week is a big exception to that.  The southern jet has all but disappeared, and has been replaced by a high-amplitude weather pattern that is causing a northwesterly flow of dry air across the southeastern states.  And that is not going to change much this week.  There will be a couple of disturbances riding along in that flow, and each may cause a temporary increase in high level clouds, but there really is not enough moisture around to support rain. So look for sunny to partly cloudy skies the rest of this week with most high temperatures in the upper 60’s to low 70’s, with most lows being down in the 40’s.  Not a bad way to start off November.
