Quiet weather overnight with more humidity on Wednesday.
After a hot Tuesday afternoon, temperatures are easing downward under mostly clear skies. At sunset there was a pretty display in the western sky as some thin high clouds shimmered against the setting sun. Those cirrus clouds are drifting away from a cluster of thunderstorms in Arkansas. Those storms have caused some limited severe weather during Tuesday, but the thunderstorms are now moving into more stable air, and as a result they will weaken over the next few hours. I am not forecasting any rain from that area here in central Alabama.
I am forecasting humidity levels to creep up during Wednesday as we start to lose the comfortable conditions we have enjoyed the past couple of days. That increase in humidity will interact with some disturbances in the upper atmosphere starting Thursday, leading to afternoon thundershower chances starting then, and continuing through the 4th of July weekend. I think the chances will slowly increase each day, probably peaking on Sunday.
Now I am not expecting a washout any of those days, and there is a chance we will be able to get in most of the fireworks displays, though the weather may play a role in some areas.
