Plenty of smiling faces across central Alabama these days, and that happiness is likely to continue.
Its been quite some time since we have enjoyed an entire week with no troublesome weather. But this one seems like a lock. The very active southern jet stream that has brought us frequent bouts of stormy weather of late has been replaced by a northwesterly flow in the upper atmosphere, and that flow consists of very dry air. Hence all the sunshine and deep blue skies. Also it is a fairly unusual setup when we can go several days into the future with a zero percent probability of rain, but that is currently the case. There will be some fluctuation in temperatures on a day-to-day basis with our thinking right now that Thursday will be the coolest day with highs in the middle 60’s. And Thursday night will be the chilliest night with lows near 40.
Now over the weekend, it will become a little warmer, and a little more moisture will begin to flow in our direction, at least for Sunday, and that could mean a little more cloud cover. And just in case you thought the hurricane season is over, well a tropical wave is developing off the coast of Costa Rica. There is a chance it could become a tropical depression or storm over the next couple of days. There is a small chance some of the moisture associated with that feature could advance northward into the Gulf coast states next week just in time to enhance showers that come our way from a cold front.
