Our great weather continues…little change expected this week.
For now the strong southern jet stream pattern, courtesy of El Nino, has broken down, and as a result we are getting a very nice break from the very active pattern that has made it consistently cloudy and wet here of late. Actually it has been a wet year so far. We have received just over 60” of rain thus far, and if it does not rain another drop the rest of the year, we will still wind up above average for 2009, rainfall-wise. Chances are strong that the active southern jet will return, so it is quite likely another 10 inches or so may fall. So don’t put away the umbrellas just yet.
Anyway you won’t need them the rest of this week, as nice weather will continue. Nights will continue to be chilly. Wednesday will be nice and mild again, then Thursday a little cooler before a modest warming trend develops Friday.
That tropical wave way down south could possibly spread a little moisture into the western Gulf of Mexico early next week, but by then an approaching cold front may cause a few showers anyway.
