Northwest Alabama snow is now over…slick spots to remain and perhaps spread

The snowfall over the northwest part of the viewing area..mostly Marion, Winston and Lamar counties certainly did not last very long.  But there remains snow on the ground in that area.  The snow came down fast and furious with amounts ranging from very little in Vernon to as much as 3-6 inches around Hackleburg in Marion county.  I am not forecasting any precipitation the rest of the night.
As for the possibility of icy spots, I would beware of 2 areas..one anywhere around the snow cover where the roads will be prone to quick freezing; and also because of all the heavy rain the past 2 days, there will be water drainage in the normally suspect places.  (Such as opposite the Reservoir on westbound highway 280 at Overton Road.)
Most of Friday will be sunny…the weekend looks milder.
