Nice change from extreme heat and high humidity.
The heat wave of the past 10-12 days has given way to a slightly cooler, considerably less humid air mass, and so it is a bit easier to breathe out there today.
And tonight will be a real delight with clear skies. Evening temperatures will fall from the upper 80’s at 6 pm to the upper 70’s by around 9 pm. Overnight lows will be near 65. Not exactly autumn, but a nice respite.
Tomorrow, which happens to be the last day of June, will offer up plenty of sunshine and blue skies. It will be very warm to hot with afternoon highs between 90 and 93, but humidity levels will be low once again.
The second half of this week will feature a return of humidity, though I don’t think we will see the extreme heat like we saw through Sunday. I think a gentle northwest flow in the upper atmosphere will prevent the heat from getting unbearable.
Now along with higher humdity values will come a return to the chance of afternoon and evening thundershowers. I do not expect that to happen through Wednesday, but I think a couple of showers may pop up Thursday afternoon, then we will have scattered afternoon thunderstorms Friday through the 4th of July holiday weekend. Obviously as we get closer to it, we will try to figure out whether those shower chances will interfere with planned fireworks displays.
