Near Death Experience!

Yesterday was a great day to spend some time outdoors and I decided to do just that.  After work I grabbed a friend of mine and we went cycling yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours.  Everything had been going great, the weather was perfect and we were nearing the end of our 35 mile ride with only one mile left to get to my car.

All of a sudden some jerk in a truck apparently decided “his” road was not made for cyclists (because you realize cyclists don’t pay taxes…WHATEVER).  Needless to say, he floored his truck and “buzzed” both my friend and I.  What I mean by buzzed is he deliberately came as close as he possibly could to hitting us going as fast as he possibly could.  I wonder what would have happened if I had hit a pot hole and swerved a couple of inches to the left.  I suppose I would either be in critical condition or in Heaven.  I just don’t understand the logic (or lack thereof) behind this.  How can somebody be having such a bad day that they would want to deliberately try to hit or come close to hitting two women on there bikes; perhaps someone who is in need of some serious psychiatric help.  The sad part is we weren’t even holding him up.  There were no cars heading the other direction so he had plenty of room to pass us.

It’s amazing how brave people become when they are protected behind a car, a computer screen, a telephone, etc…  God is good and he protected both my friend and I.  PLEASE BE KIND TO CYCLISTS!!!  I promise we are not there to delay you from getting to your destination.  People ride bicycles for all different reasons; they love the sport, the love the outdoors, they need the exercise, or it may be their only means of transportation.  Quite frankly we do pay just as much for that road as you do and by law are allowed to be there.
