Get ready for a wet week with three opportunities for getting rain.

It was a rather quiet Sunday across central Alabama, but don’t get used to it.  Not one, not two, but three weather systems will come our way this week, and each one will bring rain. The wet periods will come very late tonight and tomorrow, then Tuesday night into Wednesday, then during the day Thursday.  The highest chance of severe will come with Thursday’s storm, though I cannot completely rule out a strong to severe storm south of I-20 tomorrow.
Rainfall totals on Monday will range from about 1/2 inch over southern parts of the area to 2 inches or more along the highway 278 corridor.  There will be a break on Tuesday, then the rain comes back Tuesday night into Wednesday, and again there could be heavy amounts.
Thursday’s action will be caused by a strong cold front, so that will mean showers and thunderstorms, with some of the storms possibly being severe.  Behind that front, finally a chance for us to dry out.  But it will also open the gates for some much cooler weather Friday and the start of next weekend.
