Finally it is going to feel like Fall!
If you have been waiting for a real shot of some truly Autumn-like weather, well the wait is over. A cold front is moving southward toward I-85 now, which means it has just about cleared the viewing area. Northwest winds will blow tonight, and will usher in a very noticeable change to cooler and less humid conditions. Temperatures will fall steadily this evening, reaching the low 60’s by 11 pm, and will drop down to near 50 by morning. In fact many communities along the highway 278 corridor will see a temperature range from 45 to 48 for the overnight lows. And the humidity drop will be every bit as dramatic. Of late, we have been putting up with dewpoints in the low 70’s, making the air feel very muggy and actually kind of heavy. Well the dewpoint will plummet tonight, and will settle down to about 50 for the next few days, and that means the air will feel much lighter and much drier.
The next 3 days will be simply great with plenty of sunshine. Moisture will return quickly Thursday night, and showers appear likely on Friday, with just a chance some moisture lingers for the weekend.
