Fay The Main Story For Weekend
There will be a few scattered showers and thunderstorms into this evening. The vast majority of the rain will fall west of I-65, but there will be a couple of stray showers east of the busy highway as well. Where the storms occur, there will be heavy downpours. There will be a gradual weakening trend after about 7 pm. I expect tomorrow will be about the same story with a few scattered showers, especially during the afternoon and evening. You may have noticed the breeze picking up a little at times today, and that will be the case again tomorrow.
That breeze is not really being generated by Tropical Storm Fay, but rather the combined circulation around Fay and a high pressure are in the middle Atlantic states. That high will ultimately kick Fay off to the west, and the storm will give us some rain this weekend. Depending on the track of Fay, there could be a whole lot of rain…like several inches…or there might be only some moderate amounts. It will all depend on the exact track. Based on the all the information I am seeing, I think south Alabama will get substantial rain with some flooding, and I think at least the southern half of our viewing area will get appreciable rainfall. Obviously we will keep tracking the storm, and many updates are forthcoming.
