Cold front to become main player here Friday night and Saturday.
It is a breezy, balmy night across central Alabama and temperatures are having a hard time dropping at all. As of this writing, it was still 74 degrees in Birmingham, and it may not fall below 70 overnight. Friday will be another warm day with a gusty southerly wind and temperatures peaking close to 80. Most of the day should be rainfree, but I can see a few thunderstorms arriving in western counties late in the afternoon. Friday night will turn wet and rather stormy from west to east. There may be a few strong storms, though I don’t think we are looking at a repeat of the damaging weather that occurred in Arkansas and Louisiana during Thursday. It looks to me like a lot of the energy pulls up to the north.
Rain will continue into Saturday. It had appeared that the rain might diminish and even end across the area Saturday afternoon, but there is less evidence of that now, and I could see it staying wet right into trick or treat time, and maybe for all of the Magic City Classic. And it will be much cooler with temperatures mostly in the 50’s.
Sunday will dry out and the first part of next week looks nice.
