Cold front moving away and so are the rain chances.
What had been a significant squall line of heavy thunderstorms last night over west Mississippi turned into a dying band of showers by the time it made it to central Alabama. Rainfall totals were quite small with only .01” at both Calera and Tuscaloosa, and only a trace in Birmingham. And drier air moved in quickly during the afternoon prompting clearing skies.
Tonight will be offer very good weather for high school football. Skies will be clear and it will be cool with temperatures falling to near 60. There may be a little patchy fog late tonight. Of the 2 days this weekend, Saturday will certainly be the nicer one. Skies will be sunny, temperatures pleasant, and the humidity very low. It will truly be a delight.
Sunday will be a different story as moisture will return quickly, and that will lead to increasing cloudiness and eventually rain. In fact it could be quite wet Sunday night.
Next week looks unsettled with showery periods. It also looks warmer with temperatures reaching the 80’s each day starting Tuesday.
