Cold front arrives this weekend with rain for awhile Saturday.
We start the weekend off with widely scattered thundershowers on the radar. Rains last Friday night were a disaster for the high school football schedule. Tonight’s activity will not be as widespread, but where it does rain, it will still come down hard for awhile. And that means some of the fields will be a soggy mess. Lightning is not plentiful, but some of the cells do have occasional cloud to ground strokes, and that may be a issue for some games as well. On average it will probably go a little better than last Friday night, but there will still be issues.
Which takes us to Saturday, and the important college games. If you are going to the Alabama game, Saturday morning and early afternoon look wet. Some of the computer models are suggesting that the worst of the rain shifts east of Tuscaloosa Saturday afternoon, so there may be some improvement during the game. Keep in mind the field and seats will still be wet.
UAB plays in Texas in the evening, and the weather looks fine. And that takes us to Auburn which was more suited for waterpolo last Saturday with the incredible deluge that delayed the start of the game. Unfortunately the timing this week does not look good either with at least a few showers or thundershowers in the vicinity at kickoff time. I would bring the rain gear.
Sunday will be drier everywhere, and a nice dose of cooler and drier air arrives next week for Monday night through Thursday.
