Cold air settling in for the weekend.

Temperatures are not falling very quickly tonight, and I have made some minor adjustments to the low temperature forecast for the rest of this night.  Basically I am bringing up the forecast low by 2 degrees.  So that will put the low in the morning around 43 in Birmingham with temperatures as low as 40 over northern portions of the viewing area.  Saturday will be a windy, very chilly day with highs in the low to middle 50’s.  Like Friday, skies will be cloudy, and the day will have a very “wintry” look to it.  I have been concerned about the possibility of a couple of sprinkles or perhaps a passing shower Saturday afternoon.  I must admit the computer model forecasts arriving tonight don’t make that possibility look very high, so the chance is probably rather small.
We will break out in the sunshine on Sunday and next week will feature a significant warming trend.
I cannot rule out a little patchy light frost Sunday morning, but that threat looks small.  There is a higher chance of frost Sunday night-Monday morning as winds will go calm and skies will be clear.
