Beautiful Autumn Weather Continues

We continue to watch a non-tropical low pressure area develop just off the coasts of the Carolinas, and it would appear that the east coast will be the center of activity, weatherwise, much of this week.  That will mean rain, some of it heavy, pounding surf and strong gale-force winds starting in South Carolina and spreading northward, eventually approaching New England.  On the other side of that system, dry air will continue to be forced southward, and that will ensure more pretty weather here.  Indeed one of the more significant forecast challenges we face is what to forecast for low temperatures each night.  Last night there was a big variation of temperatures across the area with lows of 54 of Decatur and 57 in Pinson, while Calera recorded a low of 64, and Birmingham only fell to 65.  I expect a trend toward cooler overnight lows the next 2 nights, though I also expect a continuation of a big spread across the area.  The cooler spots will again see the 50’s tonight, and just about all locations will reach the 50’s tomorrow night.
Late this week, some of the clouds associated with the east coast system may expand to the west increasing cloud cover here somewhat.  Its possible the Tide will experience overcast skies in Athens, Georgia on Saturday, and I cannot rule out a few showers there.  I doubt the showers will get as far west as Auburn.
As for the tropical disturbance that has been just drenching Puerto Rico, it may still develop into Tropical Storm Kyle.  It does appear that however much it develops, it is likely to stay well off the southeast coast.
