Awfully hot

It’s not even 11am and the heat index in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa is 95 and 99 respectively.

Temperatures should be a bit hotter than the past two afternoons with highs expected to reach the upper 90s and the heat index flirting with 105 in spots.  Make sure you take frequent breaks if you are outside and seek shade as much as possible.

There won’t be much change in the heat on Saturday but we should start to see the ride of high pressure responsible for the heat move west a bit starting Sunday.  This will allow temperatures to come down a bit for Father’s Day with an isolated thunderstorm possible especially in the north and northeastern corners of the state.
