Air mass over Alabama will gradually change next few days.

It sure was nice early this morning with a cool overnight low of 63 degrees in Birmingham and a lack of oppressive humidity.  Obviously it is summertime and this kind of weather is a real treat this time of year.  But we all know there are precious few days like that during late June and early July, and a rather quick return to more oppressive weather will start tomorrow.  However as I look ahead through the next 7 days, I don’t see excessive heat coming back.  In fact, it looks as if high temperatures will average between 89 and 91 from Thursday through next Tuesday.
In the short term, there is a small area of thunderstorms over Arkansas.  It will slide southeastward later tonight, and I cannot rule out a shower in some areas Wednesday morning, but I think we are more likely to see just an increase in clouds.
On Thursday and Friday, there will be some widely scattered thundershowers, especially during the afternoon hours.  Then I think scattered thunderstorms will be around for the 4th of July weekend.  Hopefully the timing will work out okay for area fireworks displays.
