A severe t’storm watch continues until 8:00pm

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of Alabama under a severe t’storm watch for the evening until 8:00pm.  A cool front is dipping southward this afternoon and storms are firing ahead of this front.  There may be a few severe t’storm warnings, but no widespread damage is expected. Storms have stayed out of much of the Birmingham metro area so far, but new storms are forming nearby.  The front will bring drier and slightly cooler air to the region tonight into Monday.  Highs will return to the low 90’s, overnight lows will drop into the mid 60’s by Tuesday morning.  Scattered showers and t’storms will return Tuesday.  There could be a few scattered t’storms each afternoon for the remainder of the week.
