A delay in the return of showers.

Well it was not as comfortable outside today as dewpoints rose to levels about 15 degrees higher than what we experienced Monday afternoon.  Those higher dewpoints mean there is more moisture and humidity in the air and as a result it is getting a little harder to move around outside.  And there is now an additional factor to consider concerning air chemistry.  A code Orange Air Quality Alert has been issued for Jefferson and Shelby counties for Thursday with offending pollutant being ozone.  Recommendations include reducing the amount of time you spend driving your car, and when you fill up, try to do so after 6 pm.  Children and people with asthma are the most affected by high ozone levels.
Rain of course would help the situation, but it not appears organized showers may be at least a few days away.  I think it will be basically rainfree through Friday morning.  I can see a thundershower in a few spots Friday afternoon, but I would not bet on it.  And rain chances for the 4th of July on Saturday appear to be of the spotty variety.
Better thundershower chances will likely develop on Sunday.
