Heavy rains caused a Blount County lake to flood residents’ properties and forced a few to evacuate their homes.

Heavy rains overnight and Tuesday caused significant flash flooding.  River flooding yet to come.

A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 PM CST FOR NORTHERN ETOWAH COUNTY…

A tornado warning has been issued for northwestern Jefferson Co. and eastern Walker Co. until 2 p.m.

Radar trends indicating a short-term deluge for the Birmingham Metropolitan area

Weather will be the big topic of conversation Monday night and Tuesday with rain for everyone and a few severe storms for some folks on Tuesday.

Threat of Severe Storms

T’storms have developed along a strong cold front and are moving into western Alabama this hour.  Here in Birmingham it is 61 while Tupelo, MS is reporting 49 degrees-a quick change to colder air! 

The storms have not been severe but do have very heavy rain with cloud to ground lightning,  I believe they will slowly weaken as they move eastward but not before causing some very heavy downpours.  Showers will linger right into Monday.  Monday night this same front will get pushed back northward as a warm front.  This could mean severe storms late Tuesday as a strong cold front comes back through.
