Looks like a wet period during Saturday afternoon and night.
The long range outlook suggests mainly dry weather for the Thanksgiving weekend, with it starting off quite chilly. All in all it looks like generally good travel weather next week, and a very good weather start to the holiday shopping season.
Weekend rain
Enjoy the awesome weather today as it will be changing for the weekend.
November 19, 2009
Forecast on track, and it still looks like rain coming for part of the week.
Coldest weather overnight will be over eastern areas, but everybody will get down into the 30’s. Friday will be a nice day with sunshine, then we will have a period of rain this weekend.
Rain looking more likely for the weekend, with the wettest period coming Saturday night.
In the meantime, clear cold weather will be with us again tonight, and Friday will be a beautiful day with sunshine and afternoon temperatures reaching the middle 60’s. Beyond that a low pressure area in the Gulf of Mexico becomes the main player.
Finally some sunshine
The last of the clouds cleared out this morning, none to soon either.
November 18, 2009
Frost already forming across parts of central Alabama. Will be thick in places.
Shield of low clouds finally breaking up. Much of east and south Alabama have been clear all evening, and that is where the lowest temperatures and thickest frost are likely. The clearing trend does suggest more uniform sunshine Thursday and Friday with temperatures responding just a bit.
Get ready for a cold night and some frost. Nice weather for Thursday and Friday.
Cold weather for the nice two nights, with dry conditions prevailing through Friday night. A Gulf of Mexico low pressure area will likely bring us some rain this weekend.
Pesky clouds
With the exception of the eastern counties, everyone else is under cloudy skies.
November 17, 2009
Cold night in progress. Highest risk for widespread frost will come Wednesday night.
Stubborn deck of clouds slowing the rate of temperature fall tonight. Temperatures will probably bottom out near 40 with only patchy frost. Skies will be generally clear area-wide Wednesday night, and that will probably mean more widespread frost.
Cold nights ahead with some frost likely. Still a chance of some rain this weekend.
The combination of a colder air mass and rather solid cloud cover made for very chilly conditions Tuesday. The next 2 nights will be cold with lows in the upper 30’s. Only modest warming expected later this week.
November 16, 2009
Cold front arriving overnight, but rain very sparse.
Main effect of front will be to usher in cooler air for Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures on Tuesday will be some 10-12 degrees lower than what we experienced on Monday.
Cold front on the way…mainly a temperature changer.
Front will cause a few isolated showers, but rainfall totals will be light and spotty. Front will usher in cooler air, though nothing like wintertime yet.
One more warm afternoon
Enjoy the unseasonably warm weather today as cold front will change our weather the rest of the week.

Awesome weather weekend
Hopefully you have plenty of outdoor activities planned for this weekend as the weather couldn’t be better.
November 12, 2009
Another chilly night in progress. Things still looking great for weekend.
That complex system, which includes the remnants of Ida, continues to pound the middle Atlantic coastline. But it is also acting as a “traffic cop”, that is effectively slowing down the advance of the next potential shower maker.
All weather systems go for a great weekend!
The very dry air mass is creating an ideal set up for a large range of temperatures eash day. The next few nights will be chilly, while the days will feature a slow warming trend.
Sunny for days
We are in store for a stretch of great weather.
November 11, 2009
After record rainfall on Tuesday, dry weather will now be ours to enjoy for days.
Next few nights will be chilly, but I do expect a warming trend for the weekend with temperatures returning to the 70’s. Looks like another great football Saturday.
With Ida out of the way, let the great weather return!
A cool, noticeable breeze will continue through Thursday, but overall the next 4 days look nice with a generous supply of sunshine, and starting on Friday, a warming trend as well.
A whole lot of rain
The rain has moved out of the area but the gusty winds will remain for one more day.
November 10, 2009
Ida is finally leaving the scene, and we can start drying out Wednesday.
Record rainfall from Ida in Birmingham with a storm total of over 4 inches.
Ida delivers thorough soaking. Rain ending tonight.
The remnants of Ida will slowly move away the next couple of days. Our weather will improve for Veteran’s Day, but genuine clearing may be delayed until Thursday.
Wet and windy
We’ve already received 1”-3” of rain from Ida with an additional inch or so still possible.
November 09, 2009
The very wet storm known as Ida is arriving.
Tuesday will be soaking wet with rain, heavy at times, and enough wind to make umbrella handling difficult. And falling leaves will clog some storm drains, and that will lead to some street flooding.
Ida the main player through tomorrow across central Alabama.
Unusual late-season storm will be a rain and wind machine, though the strongest winds will stay to our south.
All about Ida
Ida has experienced some significant weakening within the past 12-18 hours and is forecast to weaken even further.
