Final Day in Dubai

I will be returning back to the US in a couple of days after another stay in Paris. My stay in Dubai has been memorable.
There is no doubt Dubai is becoming a global center for both business and tourism.  When I travel
out of the country I always try to get a sense of what life is really like-outside some fancy hotel.
In doing so, I have discovered a changing society.  A society that welcomes people from all over the world
The rich heritage of the UAE is still alive and well but it is different in Dubai compared to the other UAE states.
It is considered to be the most liberal and accepting state in the UAE.
Dubai is changing daily.  Incredible plans for tourism make me want to return in a few years to see the
change and rapid growth.  They are building here 24 hours a day.  This city said to have more construction cranes right now that any other city in the world.

I am posting a few more pictures from my stay in Dubai.  Should you be interested in traveling to Dubai-I advise you to do your homework.
There are many websites and books that can offer insight to this opulent place. I am posting more pictures below from my stay in Dubai-

My hotel is Al Q’sar which means “palace” (appropriately named).

These chimney-like structures are called wind towers. they are a traditional architectural feature in the Arabian Desert.  The towers allow the hot air within the home to rise up and the desert wind carries it out…basically circulating the air inside the home, making it feel cooler.

Here is the beautiful Arabian Gulf…just beyond those waters about 40 miles away is Iran.

Dubai has the tallest building in the world…and it still going higher!  Another building that is under construction is competing to be the world tallest as well….exactly how tall these buildings will be is a big secret!

I am standing in front of the Burj al Arab hotel.  This is the most recognized structure in Dubai.  It is a self-proclaimed 7-star hotel.  One night here will set you back about $2,000.00 My hotel is part of the same resort, so I was given access to this amazing sail-like structure.

I have many, many more pics to share…later when I have more internet time.  I love the Arbabian style..so many great home improvement ideas..more to come on that subject as well!
