Sam’s Super Samwiches

There are a few non-negotiables when growing up in the City of Homewood.  You must attend “We Love Homewood Day” and you must love it.  The only mall is Brookwood Mall.  You are required to eat chocolate chip cookies from Savage’s Bakery (no one had to twist my arm for that one).  You should know the history of “The Curve” in downtown Homewood and why it no longer exists.  But most of all and as often as possible, you must eat at Sam’s Super Samwiches.

The Samwiches at Sam’s are super for a lot of reasons.  They are super tasty, super gooey and super cheap.  You can eat lunch for just over $3.00.  That includes a cheeseburger loaded with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, pickles and Sam’s Super Secret Sauce—yum.  You get all that and a bag of chips. They’re Golden Flake, of course.  I like the crispy Vinegar and Salt variety.  You can also order a hotdog or a chicken salad Samwich.  I hear they’re supposed to be, well, super.  But somehow, I’ve never been able to avoid ordering that gooey cheeseburger.

Today, I tried to order a regular hamburger.  “Now didn’t you say you wanted cheese on that burger?” Sam asked.  I caved.
