The differences between mommys and daddys

When I picked up my son from “school” the other day, I was more than a little surprised to see him standing there, arms extended, eager for me to pick him up dressed not in the adorable, boyish outift I had laid out for him the night before, but his pajama top with jeans and sandals.  You see because I have to be at work at 3am, his dad is in charge of waking him up, feeding him breakfast, getting him ready for school and dropping him off.  I leave work before noon, so I get to pick him up and take care of him in the afternoons.  One of the last things I do before I go to bed at about 8pm is pick out an outfit and lay it out.  Its true, I don’t trust his dad to dress him.  Maybe I’m a control freak.  But aren’t a lot of moms like that?  Well apparently, this particular morning Cruz didn’t like the shirt I left for him.  My husband said he cried when he tried to change him from his pajama top.  So in true paternal fashion, he just let him wear it to school.  Would I have done that?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!  I would’ve cajoled, begged, pleaded and coerced him into that shirt.  Do I wish I could be more laid back and less rigid like my husband?  Yes, I do.  But I’m not sure if I’ll ever be ok with allowing my son to wear pajamas to school.
