My Boy is Growing Up

Usually Cruz is very attached to his mommy and daddy.  We kinda like this.  Usually, if we’re around he wants us to hold him.  Well, last night my dad came over for dinner.  As he was about to leave, Cruz cried to go to him.  Then he wouldn’t come back to me or his dad.  He actually wanted to go home with my dad and step mom.  So he went to spend the night with them.  I thought for sure, once they pulled out of the driveway, he’d cry to come home…back into his parents’ arms.  Nope, it didn’t happen. He’s only 16 months old (today as a matter of fact).  How can he be growing independent already?  Is this a sign of things to come?  I don’t think I’m ready for this.  I still want to be clung to…at least for another few years!  I know as a parent, our goal is supposed to be to give our child the security to go out on his own…eventually.  But this is just too much too soon.  Maybe if he seems really glad to see me when he gets home, I’ll get over it!
