The Industrial Canal

Thank you all so much for your many thoughts and prayers through Hurricane Gustav.

New Orleans seems to have survived Gustav’s initial hit. Now it’s just a matter of whether the levees can hold the flood waters.

I have texted or spoken with pretty much all of my family and friends from New Orleans and everyone is fine—-including those who rode the storm out in the city.

Right now all eys are on the Industrial Canal. It must hold: water is now topping it, spilling over into the city. If this wall were to fail, much of New Orleans, including the French Quarter, could be in serious trouble.

Here is a picture and some video from NOLA.com and The Times Picayune.
