Homecoming Week At Alabama

Homecoming Week At Alabama

Crimson Tide football fever is at an all time high!

It’s almost as impressive as LSU’s ferver last season—- when we won the BCS National Championship, just in case anyone wasn’t paying attention or had forgotten.

(Okay, you have to at least allow me that small token after aliens abducted my Tiger defense for the second big game this season and the Saban Bowl has been scheduled for a 2:30 kick-off, which is NOT a good sign for LSU. You know, we don’t really get going from the night before until noon on Gameday.)
But seriously, I love college football, and if it can’t be LSU this season, I am thrilled it’s an SEC team, especially Alabama.

Both because I live here, and because I actually grew up a fan of both LSU and Alabama.

My dad adopted Alabama when we moved to Mobile from New Orleans, and his co-workers told him he must choose a team: Alabama or Auburn.

I bet this week’s Homecoming celebrations will be fabulous. The theme is “A Tide Nation: Unified with Crimson Pride.”

Here’s the schedule:

Paint the Town Red — Student Groups will paint windows of Tuscaloosa businesses from downtown to the Strip on Monday, October 27 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Urban Comedy Show — Monday at 8:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Theater.

Choreography Contest — Thursday, October 30, Coleman Coliseum at 7:00 p.m.

Lawn Decorations will be up as of Friday.

The Homecoming Bonfire and Pep Rally are also set for Friday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. on the UA Quad.  After that, Hank Williams Jr. takes center stage in Coleman Coliseum at 9 p.m.

Saturday, November 1 is of course the highlight:
The Homecoming Parade starts at 9 a.m. The route runs from downtown Tuscaloosa to the UA Campus.

Cornelius Bennett, former UA All-American linebacker, will be the Grand Marshal.

The Crimson Tide kicks off against Arkansas State at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2 p.m.
