Your 2009 Makeover: It’s Not All About the Body
“New year, new you.“ It’s a phrase that’s repeated over and over this time of year, and it often spurs new commitements to self improvement. Gyms are more crowded in January than any other month, and diet companies start to rake in the big bucks as soon as the ball drops in Times Square. While getting physical is important, you shouldn’t neglect the intangables: your mind, your heart, your soul.
2009 is the perfect time for a tune-up! There’s nothing worse than an idle, stagnant mind, and there’s nothing that’s easier to fix. Why not revive your creativity with an exciting new class? Go for something you’ve always had an interest in, but never been bold enough to try. Who knows what inspiration may be waiting for you in the study of cooking, painting or yoga? And lets not forget the galleries… There’s an abundance of great art just waiting to be discovered! Or you can head over to a local art museum to check out some established masters. Learning, exploring, experiencing beauty… these are great ways to improve yourself in 2009, and the results will stay with you much longer than any time on a treadmill.
Check out these links to some local galleries and workshops you may enjoy, and feel free to post your own! Happy New Year!
