Remember your ABCDE’s for Malignant Melanoma
1) A- ASYMMETRY- picture a line through the middle, melanoma would not have matching halves
2) B-BORDERS- uneven, often scalloped or ragged
3) C-Color- Brown, tan, or black. As progression occurs patches of red, blue and white may appear.
4) D-Diameter- grow larger than ¼ of an inch, the size of a pencil eraser.
5) E- Evolving, if color or shape changes.

How to protect ourselves
Wear sunscreen daily at least 15 SPF, recommend waterproof SPF 30-45 if outside or playing sports
Make sure you wear enough sunscreen, don’t skimp.
Key ingredients: Zinc Oxide, Titanium Oxide, and Avobenzone (Parsol 1789).
Avoid unnecessary sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM (UV rays strongest)
Wear wide brimmed hats and sleeved shirts (white shirts = SPF of 8)
Wear UV absorbing sunglasses
