What are some of the real dangers on the internet for your children?
The internet allows sexual predators right into your house and can give them direct access to your children
Unlimited access to pornography and other sexually explicit sites either intentionally or simply by mistyping a search word

What are some practices and tools parents can use to protect their children?
Best Practices:
Educate yourself on the dangers your children face on the internet and work with your children to create a set of guidelines to follow when using the internet.
2. Learn all the sites your children like to go and make sure you have administrative control over those sites.
3. Install web content filters and monitoring software on the computer your children use on the internet
4. Disable your children’s ability to install and uninstall software on the computer
5. Make sure you are the only user with administrative rights on the computer your children use, and never share that password.
6. Block all chat room programs
7. Monitor the instant messenger programs installed on their computer and know the username and password to all their accounts.
8. Only let them message a short list of approved people you know and check regularly the chat logs.
