Forest Park Village Spring Fling / Flamingo Festival May 8th and May 9th 2009
All of the merchants and businesses in Forest Park Village have joined together to offer an amazing festival on May 8th and May 9th with fun for the whole family. Most activities at the event are free, and there will be delicious food available for purchase.
Friday, May 8th
Forest Park Artist Opening Reception and Pre-Festival Bash at the Maralyn Wilson Gallery will feature only Forest Park Artists.
“Artonomic Creatures”, mosaics and functional sculpture by local artists Alley Bulka and Carolyn Wass at the Naked Art Gallery
Saturday, May 9th
All Forest Park business will have specials, and there will also be:
Booths featuring work by students from The Alabama School of Fine Arts and The Altamont School
The Arova Contemporary Ballet will perform
Daniel Livingston with a Raku pottery demonstration
Children’s activities including face painting, local firefighters with a fire engine, music circles, singing with Jim Aycock, and a moonwalk!
Delicious food, drink and ice cream.
Live Music all day: The Hearts, Willis Garza, The Hurlers, Bo Butler and The Nice Boys, The Horndogs
Flamingo Decorating Contests
Come wearing PINK! At 1:00 the Grand Marshall, Eileen Kunzman will lead a parade of adults and children who are wearing the color that coordinates with the Flamingo, the theme of our Spring Fling!
Admission and most activities are free!
Paticipating businesses include the Maralyn Wilson Gallery, Gaia’s, Hala Salon, Little Savannah, Red Mountain Music, Zoe’s, V Richards, The Silvertron Café, Naked Art, Standard Creative, Holmes Law Firm, The Pink House, Salt Fire Catering, Texaco, and House of Style Realty.
