Congrats Stephanie Walker!

Stephanie Walker, you are an ironman!  I can imagine the feeling of accomplishment she must have felt when she crossed that finish line after swimming 2.4 miles in open water, biking 112 miles, and running a full marathon.  Steph finished with an impressive time of 13:14:58.  I can’t imagine doing anything for 13 hours…well, maybe sleeping. 

Steph wasn’t always a distance athlete.  I asked her once why she decided to do her first marathon and she said it was to impress her boyfriend. Well, it must have wowed the socks off him because David is now her husband and they have been married now for over 4 wonderful years.  After training for her first marathon she kept up her miles and realized the more she ran, the more she could eat.  Some of you may not know this about Steph, but she’s a cake-a-holic.  I have never, in my whole life, seen anyone that loved cake as much as her.  Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry…it doesn’t matter. If there’s an office birthday or other celebration, Steph can put down 2 or 3 pieces of cake and I have NO IDEA where she puts it.  The only thing she likes as much as cake…Jim and Nick’s cheese biscuits.

Steph eventually became bored with just running so she decided to try out triathlons and now she’s hooked.  She has completed several shorter distances and a half ironman.  But…it wasn’t until she watched her husband David in his last ironman (well, the one before Ironman Canada) that she decided that it looked like fun.  After months of difficult training and sacrifice, we can now say…STEPHANIE WALKER, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!  We are so proud of you!!! 

Now hurry up and get back to work…we miss you around here!
