A wild west vacation may be closer than you think.
If you’re trying to stay close to home, but still want a fun summer getaway, Lisa Crane may have found just the place you’re looking for, less than a gas tank away from Birmingham.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to ride or rope a bull, you can find out at Hidden Creek Ranch. The working ranch in Sterrett also serves as a mini dude ranch for anyone looking for a cowboy-themed vacation. There are also waterfall rides, lake rides, creek bottom rides and mountain ridge rides.
Ky Vinsant says there are horses for any experience level. The ranch also holds “horse camps” to teach kids as young as four years old how to care for and ride horses.
To get there, take Highway 280 East from Birmingham toward Chelsea. Take a left on Co. Road 43. After 8.5 miles you’ll find the ranch on the right.
8.5 miles.
A family of four can camp out and spend the weekend riding for about $600.
