The Birmingham Water Works Board agreed to replace approximately 1,650 feet of pipe on Birmingham’s Southside near Ramsay High School. The old pipe, which was installed prior to 1921, will be replaced to increase fire flow in the area.

The BWWB will remove about 1,650 feet of 6-inch pipe and replace it with 1,330 feet of 8-inch pipe and 320 feet of 4-inch pipe. It will also replace one fire hydrant and 19 water transmission lines along 13th Ave. South and 19th St. South in Birmingham.

The pipe project will cost approximately $200,720 including materials and labor.
